Jon and Ryan had just opened their first indoor sports center in Melbourne, Australia. Their business was doing well, but managing all the customer bookings by hand was quickly becoming a headache. They looked for software to make this easier, but they couldn’t find anything flexible enough to meet their needs. And so they decided to build a solution themselves.
They soon recruited Sam, a long-time friend and software engineer, and the three of them were off to the races. From the beginning, the knew exactly the kind of solution they wanted for their own sports center:
Easy booking experience
Jon and Ryan wanted customers to be able to book the center’s available spaces themselves, but knew that some of their customers weren’t tech savvy. As a result, any solution they gave them had to be incredibly easy to use. They wanted the most intuitive, seamless booking experience ever developed.
Flexible logic that saves admin time
Jon and Ryan had certain rules about what kinds of bookings were allowed. They needed to set a minimum booking duration for certain spaces and users; they needed bookings to start and end at regular intervals, to avoid unused time; and much more. Their system needed to handle all of this complexity automatically – if it didn’t, they’d be back to managing it all by hand.
Ability to monetize
Jon and Ryan charged customers by the hour to book the center’s available spaces, with different prices for different times of the week. They needed their solution to handle all their pricing logic easily, and to handle payment processing directly in the system.
When they released their solution, Jon and Ryan's customers loved it. They knew that had something that made life easier for facility owners and patrons alike.
